Our Academic Director, Dr. Elizabeth Marvel and our Director of Africa, Buhe Mativenga, enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship with our students and partners in Kenya this summer. While there, they had many engaging conversations with students about the importance of faithfully interpreting Scripture and the danger of false teaching.
At the time of their visit, the country was reeling from the tragic aftermath of one influential false teaching. A pastor had called his followers to fast to death in order to get to heaven—and over 400 people died as a result.
While this is an extreme case, the reality is that spiritual leaders exercise great influence over those who follow them—for good or evil. There is an urgent need for godly leaders who have been well-equipped with knowledge, character, and competence. Thank you for helping us meet this need!
In a world where women are often marginalized and mistreated, it is essential for leaders to understand God’s heart for women. Liz Marvel taught a compelling seminar on the history of women in Christianity to a group of about 50 leaders. Liz taught with passion, and all the participants were deeply engaged.Liz Marvel (center left) and Buhe Mativenga (center right) display traditional Maasai gifts with our Kenyan leadership team. It was a beautiful picture of worshiping Christ alongside brothers and sisters from other nations and cultures. Our students’ joy is contagious! This is Mary Ogaya, one of our students in Kiserian, Kenya. Mary is a pastor’s wife who carries the heavy responsibility of running the chuch while her husband is away. She is rejoicing to have this opportunity to study Scripture for the first time!Back To Blog
