Dr. Rick Thompson

This year at Global Action we have witnessed many big moments when God just turned a tragedy around for something good. Thanks to your support, we were able to immediately lend aid and support to our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine when the war started and we are still there!

Ten months later, we have partnered with team members from the American Bible Society to offer biblical trauma seminars for pastors who are ministering to so many people whose lives have been devastated by war. These leaders are learning how to apply the whole of scripture to pain and suffering. Their lives are being changed. And they are going out to change the world.

Thanks to your support, we were also able to launch our program in strategic new countries like South Sudan, Uganda, Bangladesh, Belarus, and Colombia where the need for strong godly leaders is great. We were able to EXCEED our goal of equipping 2,022 leaders in 2022—equipping almost 2,200 instead! We did this because of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Encouraged by our constant support we have set ambitious goals for 2023. Thanks to the generosity of several partners, all donations made between now and the end of the year will be doubled. This means your gift will go twice as far in equipping more leaders, bringing healing to hurting people, translating our programs into additional languages and expanding our teachings to new areas around the world. Will you help us reach our goal of $400,000 in matched donations before December 31?

I’m constantly reminded of J.R.R. Tolkien’s word “eucatastrophe” around Christmas time (in part because I read a lot of Tolkien around the holidays!) It is from a Greek word that literally means, “good turn of events.” This informed much of Tolkien’s own literary work. He told tales of dangerous journeys that looked like they were going to end in disaster. But, the story gets “turned around” when a hero steps in to save the day. For Tolkien these stories pointed to a larger story.

Christ is our Hero. He came to turn things around in a broken world. And, He is coming again to make all things new. May Christ come again and “turn things around” for us all!

For the world,

Lionel Young
Executive Vice President
