Dr. F. Lionel Young III

Lionel Young serves as the Executive Vice President for Global Action. In addition to his teaching responsibilities overseas, Lionel devotes his energy to strategic growth initiatives, opening new fields in the Global South, and expanding our network of ministry partners. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Stirling (Scotland) where he did his research on the history of Global Christianity under the British intellectual, David W. Bebbington. Lionel also holds a Th.M. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Ecclesiastical History), an M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary (Pastoral Theology), and a B. A. from Grace College (Biblical Studies). Before coming to Global Action, Lionel served as a Senior Pastor in the United States for more than 30 years. He has served in theological institutions in various parts of Africa, Asia, and Oceania. He also works as a scholar in residence at the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide (Cambridge, England), where he writes about missions and World Christianity. Lionel’s recent book, World Christianity and the Unfinished Task: A Very Short Introduction, was chosen by Christianity Today as one of the best books on Missions and Global Christianity.
